I don’t, but I wish I did.
Learning French is another one of those things I’d like to add to my list of things to do before I die (along with dozens of other things 😉 ).
However, if YOU are interested in learning or teaching this beautiful language now, you’ll be happy to know there are websites that offer resources for just this purpose.
Below is a list of some of these resources which include everything from online courses to printable worksheets. With any luck, they’ll get you reading, writing, and speaking French fluently, or, at the very least, make your next trip to Paris more pleasant.
Sites for Learning French
Duolingo: A free online language learning course that currently offers French, Spanish, Italian, German, and Portuguese.
Byki: This site has both free and paid options for learning French plus four other languages.
Bonjour.com: You’ll find free French lessons as well as some newly added Spanish and Italian lessons on this website.
Loecsen: This is a free online language course for learning the basic words and useful phrases.
Alison: You’ll find free courses for learning French on Alison.
London Speaks French: Whether you live in London or not, you can learn French on this site.
French Tutorial: This site not only has lessons in French but a forum as well.
Learn a Language: You’ll find French words and phrases, a dictionary, culture information, and more here.
Annenberg Learner: This page offers a video instructional series for learning French.
Open Learning Initiative: Carnegie Mellon University offers free courses for learning elementary French.
Francais Interactif: This is a web-based, first-year French program offered by the University of Texas.
Enchanted Learning: Get activities, short books, and other printables on Enchanted Learning.
Teach It Languages: Get free printables in PDF, DOC, and PPT formats on this British site.
Super Substitute Teachers: You’ll find free printable resources for teaching French on this page.
